Terms and conditions

These terms set out how a job works with Supreme Roofing Stroud, from the survey and the written quote to payment, changes on site and what happens if something goes wrong.

These terms are issued by Supreme Roofing Stroud, which carries out roofing work in and around Stroud. We have no public premises, so all contact is by phone on 01453 933613, WhatsApp, email or the enquiry form. These terms apply to survey visits and to roofing work we agree to carry out. If a signed quote says something different, the quote wins for that job.

Surveys and the written quote

Every job starts with a survey of the roof. We photograph the roof, note the access and measure what we need. Afterwards you receive one written quote for the whole job, taking in scaffolding, stripping, materials, labour, waste removal, making good and anything else that applies. Hidden problems that only show once the covering comes off, like decayed timber, are named in the quote as a provisional item with how it would be priced.

Typical price ranges on this site are national guides, not offers. The quote is the only price that binds either side. The steps are set out on the quote page.

Accepting a quote

A quote is accepted when you confirm in writing, by email or message, that you want the work on the terms shown. We will then agree a start date. The quote states how long it stays open, because material prices move. Dates depend on weather and on the supply of materials, and we will tell you promptly if a start has to change.

Price, VAT and payment

Your quote shows VAT where it applies. Payment terms, including any deposit and any stage payments, are written in the quote before you accept it. When the balance falls due is stated in the quote. If you are unhappy with part of the work, tell us promptly and in writing so we can put it right. Where there is a genuine dispute, pay the undisputed part of the invoice while we resolve the rest.

Access, scaffold and your property

You agree to give safe access to the property, the loft and the working area, and to tell us about anything hidden that matters, such as cables, pipes, water tanks or a known leak. Where a scaffold is needed, it is priced in the quote. On steep or narrow Stroud lanes we plan the delivery and the scaffold at survey stage rather than leaving it until work begins. Please move vehicles and garden items from the working area. When the job is done the site is cleared and the waste goes with us.

Consents and Building Regulations

Some roof work needs planning permission, listed building consent or a Building Regulations application. We explain what applies to your job and, where Building Regulations approval is needed, we can make the application on your behalf to the council's building control or through a registered building control approver; the quote says who does it. Planning permission and consent for listed buildings remain the owner's responsibility, and the council decides them. For advice on a specific property, check with the council's planning team or your building control body.

Changes and extra work

If the roof reveals something the survey could not see, we stop, show you, and put the change and its cost in writing before we carry on. We do not add extra work to an invoice without your agreement, unless a make-safe is needed to protect the building or the people in it.

Our workmanship guarantee

Work we complete carries a written 10-year workmanship guarantee. It covers our workmanship, subject to the exclusions and claim steps on the guarantee page. It does not cover storm damage, misuse of the roof, or work by other trades. It sits alongside, and does not reduce, your legal right under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to have the work carried out with reasonable care and skill.

Cancelling

If you are a consumer and the contract is made at a distance (by phone, message, email or online) or away from business premises, for example at your home after the survey, you normally have 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. How to cancel will be set out with your written quote. Work starts inside those 14 days only if you ask for that on paper or by email; if you then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point, in proportion to the full price. Please tell us as early as you can if your plans change, and we will agree what is fair for any materials already ordered.

If something goes wrong

Tell us first, and we will follow the steps on the complaints page. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer. Our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence is never limited. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time, and the version in force when you accept a quote applies to that job.

These terms are a general starting point under the law of England and Wales and should be reviewed by a qualified legal adviser before they are used with customers.
