About us

About Supreme Roofing Stroud

We are a roofing contractor based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. We install, replace, repair and maintain roofs for homes and businesses across the Five Valleys and the towns around them.

Supreme Roofing Stroud works on pitched and flat roofs, slate and Cotswold stone, lead, chimneys, gutters and roof windows. Some jobs are planned months ahead. Others begin with a ceiling stain after a night of rain, and on those the first visit is about stopping water getting in, with the lasting repair planned once the building is dry.

There is no shopfront or public office. We work from Stroud, we come to you, and you reach us by phone, WhatsApp, email or the enquiry form.

What we do on a roof

The work falls into five kinds: new installation, full replacement, repair, maintenance and emergency make-safes. Each has its own service page covering what the roof is made of, why it tends to fail and how the work is staged.

Homes make up much of that list, from stone cottages on the valley sides to terraced streets and newer estates. Commercial roofs follow the same method, scaled up: a flat roof on a unit or a pitched roof on a hall gets the same survey, the same written quote and the same clear-up. See commercial roofing for how that works.

On an older building we match what is already there: a stone roof gets stone and a slate roof gets slate. Swapping a traditional covering for something cheaper changes how a house looks and, on a listed or conservation area building, may need consent. We would rather tell you that before the quote than after.

Prices published first

Plenty of roofers keep their numbers until they are standing in your garden. We publish ours first. Every service page opens with typical UK cost ranges from named sources, and the costs page gathers them in one place, next to the four guide prices we set ourselves.

Those ranges are national figures, not a quote. They exist so you can judge whether a job is in the region you expected before anyone comes out. Your own figure is settled once we have surveyed the roof, in a written quote that takes in access, stripping, new materials, labour, skips and finishing.

A written quote also lets you compare us with anyone else. If another firm's scaffold is cheaper or its slate dearer, you will see exactly where the difference sits.

How we work

Every job follows the same path, and the quote page sets it out in full. In brief:

  • Enquiry. You tell us what you can see, by form, WhatsApp, phone or email.
  • Survey. We visit, inspect the roof and take pictures of the actual slopes, flashings and loft timbers on your building.
  • Written quote. A written price for the whole job, with VAT on the face of the document.
  • The work. Protected from the weather as it goes, and a swept site with the rubbish gone when we leave.

Where Building Regulations apply, we tell you what the rules require and can make the application for you, to the council's building control or through a registered building control approver. Where planning is in question, such as a conservation area, we point you to the local council's planning team (Stroud District Council for Stroud itself) rather than guess.

Steep lanes and terraced hillsides

Stroud is built on slopes. Lanes are narrow, houses sit above the road on steps or terraces, and a lorry cannot always stop where the scaffold needs to go. Those facts change the cost of a job, so they belong in the quote from the start.

On the survey we look at how materials will reach the roof, where a skip can stand, whether neighbouring land needs to be crossed and how the scaffold will be tied in. You see the result in a written quote, not as a surprise charge on the day.

Where we work

Our patch is Stroud and the surrounding Five Valleys, plus each town inside a 30 road mile radius of the centre. That takes in Gloucester and Cheltenham to the north, Cirencester and the Cotswold villages to the east, Dursley, Wotton-under-Edge and Tetbury to the south, and the Forest of Dean across the Severn.

Each town has its own page on the areas we serve list, with its distance from Stroud, its local council and notes on the buildings found there. If your village is not named, ask: the radius is measured by road, and we would sooner check than turn you away.

Our workmanship guarantee

Our work is backed by a written guarantee on workmanship, running for 10 years. It is a guarantee from us, not an insurance policy. The terms, including what it covers and how to make a claim, are on the guarantee page.
